I have been a student of music for over 30+ years. My musical influences include classical, contemporary, rhythm and blues, non-secular, jazz, rock, you name it! I also enjoy bluegrass! My teaching style can best be described as blended and inclusive. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I am passionate about what I do. Music whether it be teaching or performing is literally my life. In my lessons, you can expect to learn true musicianship by learning how to play and sing music in all 12 major and minor keys, reading notes, and musical theory. I like to tell my students it is my job to help them come into their own as expressive players who can tell stories through music. I also tell my students it is their responsibility to select a consistent and appropriate daily practice time so that we can work together to reach his/her musical goals. My favorite thing about teaching is watching my students grow and attain a love for a variety of music genres while developing true musicianship. I have been very fortunate in my career to have worked with amazing artists such as Diane Reeves, Carl Anderson, Bobby Mc Ferrin. Most recently I fulfilled a lifelong dream of performing at Carnegie Hall with a choral ensemble celebrating the King's Singers 50th Anniversary. My students love that I am positive, proactive, and truly passionate about what I do. I primarily teach beginning and intermediate piano and vocal lessons, but I can also teach beginning guitar. My approach as a teacher is to teach proper technique and fundamentals, provide constructive feedback, and motivate my students to become proficient at their craft. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon!
