Experienced in mentoring individual musicians into a group or band setting, in a wide wide varieties of styles of music. I am experienced in teaching in guitar(electric or acoustic), Banjo, Bass, Mandolin, Ukulele, and Drums(set or various percussion) I can explain things at the student’s level and adapts curriculum based on the student’s personal musical interest and learning style. My students have gone on to teach guitar themselves and play in active bands that perform regularly. . I have a passion for music and have inspired many to achieve desired skills in song writing, technique, theory and performance. Beginners and advanced students, and all ages! * Formal Education: I have learned guitar from my dad at age 12, and have taught since i was 18. Now i am 27 and have years and years experience of playing in bands in a multitude of genres, having recorded over a dozen albums in professional studios and basement band recordings, I have played drums trombone banjo guitar and bass in bands. I have also worked live sound for over a year at a bar in the city with musical groups every weekend. I have toured across the country in small vans playing shows. I currently gig about 4-8 times a month, and am regularly in two different bands at any point in time, in addition to solo or impromptu performing or jamming. Basically, whilst I am not a product of a university music education, I have much experience working with musicians and know the language and theory and history behind musics. Private Education: My dad taught me guitar at the young age of 12 and I have studied under many local Chicago 'hidden greats' in performing music scenes of jazz and punk. Performing Experience: I have played in bands since i was 15 of the genres of metal, punk, blues, rock, reggae, jazz, marching band, ska, and noise. Toured and recorded over a dozen CD's Experience Teaching: I have taught for over 9 years at Perry's Music Villa Park, a reputable music store/repair shop / music school which has existed for over 30 years. I also teach at La VoZ Hispana for a couple months now. All in addition to doing private lessons at peoples houses or my own studio for years.
