Looking for an After School Program that keeps the kids active and outside year round? Field & Forest Club is a balance of farm chores, outdoor adventure, classic literature, and folk songs--like going to your grandparent's farm and learning things of lasting value. New in 2026 - we're a 4H Club, too!
Meet our instructors
Matthew Romans
Instructor
Matthew Romans has worked on and managed organic farms for over 10 years. He is a graduate of MSU’s Organic Farmer Training Program and has worked as the Program & Education Specialist at the Greater Lansing Food Bank’s Garden Project, coordinating 100+ community gardens & developing educational resources for gardeners throughout mid-Michigan. Matthew is the Director of our Common Arts Programs and leads the After School Club as well as the Summer Day Camps. He lives in East Lansing MI, and loves seeing students engaged in building applied knowledge & skills.

Dress for the weather! We are outside if the winter wind chill is 10 degrees or above and if the summer heat index is 90 degrees or below. Prepare for farm chores and play in the mud! Our program provides a complimentary snack each day. We are conveniently located
