About Adrienne

(Written from Cody's wife, Kayla) Adrienne, or as we so lovingly call Birdie, came to us when I needed her most. I had just given birth to our second son also with a physical disability, and I had no one. No family nearby. She was our mothers helper and my second set of hands when I was drowning from life as a new mom to 2. While I healed from a challenging birth and took my son to weekly, if not daily, clubfoot doctors visits where they slowly broke his bones and casted him, she helped me comfort him and care for him while he screamed every waking second for 4 months, all while my husband worked 90+ hour weeks. And when I was taking care of my newborn, Birdie would take care of my oldest son. She would do everything from getting him up in the morning, taking his leg braces off, getting him ready for the day, fed him meals, and played with him. My oldest son is extremely shy and reserved but loved Birdie so much and warmed up to her quickly. Birdie incorporated her background knowledge into day-to-day activities for my son with the motto, everything can be a learning moment. During downtime, she would help with laundry, dishes, and picking up around the house. We had Birdie for 6 months!
