About Alden

My name is Alden and I'm a student at Williams College, a highly-ranked liberal arts college in western Massachusetts (though I'm excited to be spending my junior year at the University of Oxford). I'm majoring (3. 97 GPA) in sociology and comparative literature, but have taken courses ranging from music theory and geosciences to microeconomics and multivariable calculus. I'm on the rowing team at Williams and play the flute, taking lessons and playing in chamber groups. I pride myself on being a creative, critical thinker who can learn, distill, and fluently transmit concepts and methods of problem-solving across diverse subject areas. The fall term at Oxford doesn't begin until early October, so I'll be in the Philly area through September! I'm interested in tutoring because it addresses individual learners' needs in a way not always fulfilled by larger classroom environments. I'm passionate about learning and think personal connection and collaboration is important in that process.
