About Alena

We hired Alena through Care.com to clean the home of a client who is deaf, nonverbal, and has a terminal illness. We provided clear written instructions ahead of time, and Alena assured us she had professional cleaning experience. Unfortunately, when she arrived, she seemed unprepared and unfamiliar with basic cleaning tasks. Rather than following the instructions, she repeatedly asked the client—who is not able to communicate easily—for guidance. She also told the client that she wasn't informed about the job, which was not true. While she was polite and said she would do whatever was needed, she relied entirely on the client to direct her, which was not possible due to the client’s condition. A professional cleaner should be able to handle general house cleaning without needing step-by-step instruction. The client ultimately asked her to leave early because the experience was stressful and the cleaning products were making her feel worse. This was a simple cleaning job that unfortunately was not completed properly. Overall, this was a disappointing experience and not what we expect from someone advertising professional cleaning services on Care.com.
