We were very disappointed with our experience with Allison. She really hurt our kids emotionally, and I can't recommend her. We hired Allison for full-time work doing house manager work while the kids were in school and child care when the kids were home. We offered a highly competive wage, health stipend, and up to 6 weeks of paid vacation. After 6 months, it became clear that our little one needed to be in preschool (based on her developmental stage/readiness). We let Ally know that we needed to move her to part time instead of full time. We knew this would be a disappointment, but we really cared about Ally so we generously offered her up to 3 months of full-time severence pay to give her plenty of time to find either a second part-time job (to supplement her continued work with us) or a new full-time job. We told her we understood if she needed to leave for a new full-time job, and if that occured, that we would kindly ask that she give us a week or two of notice so we could inform the kids and have a transition period and proper goodbye. She agreed, but told us she had found a part-time job and would continue with our family. However, after she had been given one month of the severence pay we had offered, she informed us via text message that she wasn't coming to her shift that day. She gave NO notice and made no attempt to transition with the children or to say goodbye as was our agreement (and as would have been professional and kind to the children.) Our 5-year-old and 3-year-old were absolutely heartbroken that Ally didn't come to say goodbye. We made many attempts to contact her to warmly invite her to please come and say goodbye, and she did not respond. We were consistently kind and generous with her, and were shocked that she wouldn't say goodbye to our children who I do believe she cared deeply about. This was the biggest of many expamples were we found Allison to be unprofessional and emotionally under-developed, younger than her years. As a people pleaser, she came across as kind and impressive, but ultimately wasn't able to directly and authentically communicate her needs. She would say "yes" to requests with a big smile and then later complain about them to other household employees and act resentful towards us, leaving us guessing as to what was bothering her. We found we couldn't trust her to be straight with us because she was too afraid of saying "no" to tell us the truth, which we would have welcomed with open arms. She is generally sweet with kids, and she has a lot of potential, but her communication was unprofessional and immature, and it devestated my kids. I really regret hiring her because she broke their hearts, and has made no attempt to make amends.
