Hello, My name is Amanda I am a 48-year-old female . I was a veterinarian technician for 20 years and a caregiver off and on for 18 years. I started taking care of the elderly when my grandmother had a massive stroke. After my grandmother I took care of my father who passed from cancer and also an uncle who had a stroke. Most recently I was a live in caregiver for a 101-year-old Retired Colonel in the Air Force. He was in hospice care but was very alert and friendly. I changed his diapers kept him clean fed and medicated as needed. I was only with him for 5 weeks but is was a true blessing in disguise . I also took care of a lovely lady at Franklin Park in Alamo Heights assisted living. She was 99 with dementia, very strong willed and independent just cooked and did her laundry and reminded her to take her medicine.
