About Amy

I'd describe my personality as energetic, joyful & loving. I like teaching because I love to see the self esteem being built in students as they learn adaptive skills and strategies to master subjects. I'm looking for a job that allows me to either tutor or teach a homeschool program for a family. I have been teaching children in private and public school settings for 40 years both in New England and in Maryland. I have worked with many students with physical and cognitive learning challenges and neurodiversity. In my spare time, I like to read, kayak and spend time with family. One thing you should know about me is I love children unconditionally. My number one skill is building relationships with children. I can assess the areas of need and use strategies that work for that particular student. I incorporate fun in learning to help children remember the skills they have learned, develop study habits for the future and organizational strategies.
