During our 9-weeks employment, this nanny experience felt like a high paid babysitter instead of the nanny experience we expected. After reading her profile and accolades, she seemed like a great fit and we were excited to hire her. During her interview, we saw some contingencies, but we wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. We realized that interviews don't always show the true person, resulting in encounters and responses being tainted at times. I feel that nannies are an extension of the parent(s) and play a vital role greater than just babysitting. Nannies should enforce/uphold rules, safety measures, morals, values, and instill the educational standards of the family. A prudent nanny is adaptable to each family that they serve. I had a different experience with this provider. Her self proclaimed "free spirit" personality took precedence to our expectations. Although this provider can be fun, her ability to be carefree and her naive decisions around safety and limit setting are in conflict with the structure of our family. Her lack of receptiveness to constructive criticism and unprofessionalism resulted in her immediate dismissal. I truly hope this fair review is informative for parents and allows the provider retrospective reflection for growth
