About Caitlin

Working with children, especially in an educational setting, is something I not only have a great deal of experience in, but something about which I am very passionate. I have a great deal of experience working with kids in an academic setting. I worked as a one-to-one aide for a third-grader with Down syndrome and worked closely with him every day on his English and math skills, and accompanied him to his art, gym, and music classes, as well. I also worked at a summer camp for children with high-functioning autism called Youthcare. As a counselor, I worked with a group of six 8-year-old boys, working not only on their social skills, but participating enthusiastically with them in their daily recreational activities, including: drama, art, swimming, and other special events we had planned throughout the day. I also am currently working towards my bachelor's degree in secondary education and Spanish, as well as my master's degree in severe special needs (K-12). I have worked as a Spanish and science tutor for a freshman in high-school, and I currently work as a full-time student teacher, planning daily lessons, delivering instruction, and being available for extra help for students. Teaching is something I have always felt came naturally, especially working one-on-one with students. I am very patient, creative, and have high expectations of my students, and I feel that tutoring is a great way for me to continue doing what I love while helping those who need some extra support!
