Hello! My name is Calder. I found myself working with kids when I was just a kid myself. I started volunteering at a nature center at the age of 12 and quickly realized I loved teaching, both in formal and informal settings! In the many years since, I earned my degree in environmental education and served as the program director for two non profits. A few years ago I decided to leave the world of managing educators to work with kids directly again. I regularly work with several families in the Mid-Coast area but am always happy to connect to see if I have time and am a good fit to work with yours.

Calder has taken care of our two boys on a regular basis for several years, mostly after school and part time during the summer. Our sons truly love him. His creativity knows no bounds, and he nurtures the kids’ imaginative whims, making up games and fantastical characters, or raiding the cardboard recycling to craft amazing armor for knights and elaborate houses for toy animals. He is completely engaged with our kids when he’s with them. He helps them navigate their mood swings and sibling conflicts with kindness. Calder is a great communicator with us parents, too, crucially! Calder always enjoys a trip to the local library or stream in the woods, when our children agree to it, and is also very physically strong so can handle the rambunctious energy of two boys when they want to clamber onto him. Highly recommend Calder.
