About Carissa

Hola! I hold a Master of Education, Teacher of English as a Foreign Language Certification, and am currently working in Hato Rey as an English Teacher to students ages 9-50 and as a front desk receptionist at a hotel. Prior to living in San Juan, I was working as a landscaper in Aguadilla and for the five years before this year, was working in an international school in Washington DC, first with students with disabilities, then as the school librarian, then as the librarian and French and English teacher. I also coached volleyball at the high school and college levels. I helped my single-parent sister raise my oldest niece before beginning to babysit for my college professor's kids. After college, I moved to France where I au paired for a trilingual and very energetic 5-year-old. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, anything outdoors/immersed in nature, cooking, staying active/sports, practicing my French and Spanish, watching movies, knitting and playing with my dog.
