About Carissa

I have taught kindergarten and grade 1 for 9 years in the United States, Poland and Honduras. I am passionate about early literacy skills and teaching kids how to read, as well as early math skills to build solid foundational skills for the elementary years. I have experience working with neurodiverse students and can help students identify and work with their strengths. I am also passionate about social emotional learning, and am going back to school to get a masters in counseling. In my free time I love to spend time in nature, especially hiking in new places. I am new to Chicago and am looking for preschool/elementary students or homeschool pods to help with their literacy, math, or social emotional skills.
