About Carmen

I earned my bachelor's in physics from Barnard College where I graduated with departmental honors. I love physics, math, and teaching, and in my free time I like do aerial circus arts and spend time with my dogs. Around 8 years ago, I started helping my younger sister with math, realized how rewarding it was helping her overcome her math difficulties and anxiety, and quickly grew my network from there. I've now been working professionally as a tutor for about 5 years, teaching everything from math to physics to standardized test prep. I offer help ranging from elementary math to advanced differential calculus and college-level physics courses. I also have experience preparing students to handle the math portions of the SAT, ACT, and GRE, as well as providing general college application guidance as requested. Outside of tutoring, I have spent close to 5 years working in research labs. My most recent (and exciting) lab job was a dark matter research lab at Columbia!
