I had always wanted a dog growing up but never had one. I got to be a cat owner when I lived abroad and that was a great intro to the joys of cats. I married a dog lover who was dad to 2 mini dachshunds. My in-laws say that I came into the family treating the dogs like they were my own from day one. We hoped that both our kids would get to meet the pups; sadly, only our oldest got to spend time with the second pup before he suffered a stroke. The loss of our pups is still one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever had to face. 10 years later, my husband is dying to have dogs in our lives again. The kids are asking for pets too. I love pets too, but can't fathom the full-time responsibility right now. Signing up on Care. com is my compromise - we would love to love on your four-legged fur babies when you need a hand!
