About Carolyn

With 30 years of teaching experience, mostly in Montessori settings, I specialize in helping young children learn how to read. I'd describe my personality as professional, fun, and creative! I like tutoring because my passion is teaching reading and instilling a life-long love of literacy. I'm looking for a job that I can individualize instruction to match the learning style of the student. I started tutoring when I began teaching on a part-time basis to fulfill a dream of having my own business. In my spare time, I like to read, take hikes, and spend time with my family. One thing you should know about me is I've helped struggling readers for over 30 years. I will fine-tune my lesson plans to match the student's interests and needs while always maintaining the self-esteem of the learner. My skills include phonics instruction, sight words, and reading strategies (to name a few).
