Hello! I am a certified Child Life Specialist with a masters degree in Child Life and Family Centered Care. I have worked with children in a variety of setting including health care (home and hospital based), nannying, babysitting and through volunteer work. I currently work per diem as a child life specialist providing emotional and play based support to children receiving outpatient medical care.
I am looking for occasional babysitting jobs that would allow me to bring my toddler aged daughter during the day or date night sitting.

Courtney has been our weekly date night sitter since our daughter was 6 months old. She is a joy to work with and our daughter absolutely loves her! Courtney is prompt, responsive, friendly and wonderful with kids. She easily manages our daughter's evening routine and bedtime and has even stayed the night when my husband and I were away. I feel completely at ease anytime she is watching our daughter and would feel confident recommending her to anyone looking for a reliable sitter.

Courtney is amazing!  She babysat for my two young children (starting at 2 years and newborn) and has continued to travel with us (making our vacations an actual vacation!) and stayed overnight while we were out of town.  Courtney is kind, compassionate, patient, and energetic.  She always has an adventure planned (library, park, museums), and is great at floor play too.  Our house was always spotless after she had been there.  I can honestly say I am a better parent for having watched her interact with my children.  You will be so so lucky to have her.

Courtney is a great babysitter and were are so sad she moved. She easily bonded with my two boys and we felt completely comfortable with her level of care. She has been hard to replace!

Courtney did a great job jumping right in and winning over our two kids with her infectious personality. They both look forward to seeing her again soon.

Courtney is a truly exceptional caregiver.  She is highly responsible and reliable, very knowledgeable, and has wonderful demeanor, tone and patience.  She engages with our son (16 mos.) in a wide range of activities including reading, going outdoors, painting, feeding, and playing.  She has a great way of diffusing and redirecting any bad behaviors.  We couldn't be happier with her help.

Courtney saved us with some last minute backup care when my daughter was sick and I could not miss work.  I was nervous because my then 9 month old had trouble with new people, but she took to Courtney right away.  They had a great day together and Courtney was wonderful about letting me know how my daughter was doing.  We will be using her again in the future!

Courtney was fantastic with our girls in during our stay in D.C. Very sweet, and personable. The girls hated to see her go when we returned for the evening. I will most defiantly request her to stay and play with our little ones again when we visit! Super girl! Mom of 2 girls~ we loved her!

Courtney is wonderful.  She sat for us, for a group of about 8 kids with another nanny.  She was patient and great with the kids.  We had a 2 year old who has having separation anxiety and Courtney was super patient and kind with her.   I'd definitely recommend Courtney and we're looking forward to working with her more in the future.

Courtney was very pleasant.  Although we are not using her at this moment, we will surely keep her on our list of people in the event we need a caregiver for our children.

Courtney is THE best nanny that you could ever ask for. Courtney cared for our son for about thirty hours per week for almost two years (when he was between the ages of 1 and close to three). We are so incredibly sad that she just moved to DC (but she is following her dream of working as a child life specialist, so we are happy for her). Courtney is absolutely loving, interactive, dependable, and responsible. She has a bachelor's and master's degree in child development fields, so she truly understands how to care for children in developmentally appropriate ways. She spent ten-hour days with my son, and structured each day wonderfully. She always arrived on time and in such a cheerful manner. She greeted S. with a huge hug and got down on his level to talk to him about his morning. She fed him, often bathed him, and she planned a morning and afternoon activity (depending on his interest). She often went grocery shopping with him for ingredients for pizza or banana bread, and they spent the morning or afternoon baking. He loved this! She also took him to local parks, to libraries for story hours, to yoga, and to local museums (using free library passes that she found on her own). She was never wedded to anything, and she really let my son's daily needs take precedence. If he felt a little cranky, then they often hung out, painted, read books, or did puzzles at home. If he felt a bit adventurous, they would go for a T ride (that's our subway system in Boston). She also really helped us develop a good nap routine, and she took all of her cues from us. She cared for my son exactly the way that my husband and I do, knowing that he needs boundaries, but also that he needs a lot of love and that battles must be picked with two-year-olds. She's so good, however, that I truly believe that she will follow and adopt any parenting style that you follow. She really takes her lead from you and internalizes it so that you don t have to give directions. I have a somewhat chaotic life (with a stressful job, a crazy black lab that tends to get into trouble, and a mother living in my household). Courtney went with the flow on all of this. She was like a rock of stability and tranquility and responsibility. My son has thrived in her care. I could write five pages about her, but I hope that this gives you enough information. I m really happy to talk on the phone if you d like more information about Courtney. You should also know that I'm picky, I'm cautious (I interviewed more than 15 nannies for her position), and I m a professor with a Ph.D. in a family-related field). Oh, one more thing you should know because it speaks to her qualifications...in November of 2011, right before Courtney became our nanny, she won Sitter of the Month for Boston's Parents in a Pinch.
