Experience: 10 yrs
15 years of experience have taught me that providing exceptional care is about more than just skills. As a Certified Home Health Aide, I offer transportation, run errands, perform light housekeeping, and prepare meals. I also hold CPR and First Aid certifications. I'm passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of adults and seniors and supporting their families. I communicate through daily reports, verbal updates, and regular texts or calls. My approach is compassionate, friendly, and professional. I adapt to changing routines, de-escalate stressful situations, and handle confusion with empathy. Building trust is important to me. I look forward to bringing my experience and dedication to your family.
I am honored to recommend Cynthia P. as a caregiver for you or a loved one. I can tell you, without any hesitation, that she is the best caregiver you could possibly imagine. In 2019, I began to have a need for additional assistance with my mother. She had dementia and several other health issues. While a walker, special toilet seat, bath chair and steps for the bed were helpful, she could no longer cook for herself, safely bathe, use the toilet without assistance nor remember to take medications. At the same time, my sister was living in my mother’s home. She suffered from a debilitating spine disease and stage 4 COPD. With a full-time job of my own, the daily demands had become overwhelming. ( I do want to say that while Cynthia was not hired to care for my sister, she extended loving support to include her until she passed in 2022.) I was referred to Cynthia in late November 2019. She had been described to me as a wonderful woman, that was happy, very experienced and reliable. In early December of that year, I hired her. Although Cynthia’s experience and references were impressive, I did not hire her based on these considerations alone. What clinched it was the expression of joy my mom showed while chatting with her on their first visit. My mother’s opinion and acceptance of assistance was critical. Mom liked her from the start, and it was clear she was right for the job. My mother grew to consider Cynthia as more than a caregiver. She was a trusted companion, friend and family member to her. Cynthia is intelligent, empathetic, patient, gentle, kind and worked to ensure that my mother’s emotional and physical well-being were the very best and priority one. Here are some of the daily tasks Cynthia did over the years: • Kept detailed daily logs for various vitals that included blood pressure and bowel movements. These logs were used at doctor visits. • Every morning, I would receive a recap on how the day started and vitals. • Called in prescriptions to pharmacy if medications were low, filled daily/weekly medication containers and administered medications according to physician instructions. • Sponge bathed each morning with complete showers including washing, drying and curling mom’s hair was done twice weekly along with manicure. • Met with Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists when appointments were scheduled to understand and learn exercises that were required. Cynthia then made sure that exercises were performed up to three times daily or as instructed. • Pressure sores were nearly non-existent, if at all, because of excellent pre-emptive skin care. • Created grocery lists and menus. She would shop for us at times as well. • Cooked Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner each day she worked (which was typically 5 days a week) • Assisted with taking my mother to doctor visits. • Played board games, cards or watched television at times with my mother • Showed up always, on time. • Did light housework such as dusting, dishes, vacuuming, cleaning the bathroom. • Stayed overnight on occasion. My family was blessed to have the best of care with Cynthia for nearly 5 years. Cynthia is intelligent, empathetic, patient, gentle, kind and worked to ensure that my mother’s emotional and physical well-being were the very best and priority one. She is an excellent example of the best in the caregiving profession.
