Born and raised in Boston, I come to early childhood education and care from a lifetime of social justice activism. My child care philosophy is informed by two decades of experience in youth development, LGBTQ rights, health education, and Black liberation work. I believe fully in the ability of young, even very young, people to be engaged in the creation of a safer, healthier, and more just world. I find immense joy in supporting children to pursue their own learning and interests while fostering an environment that encourages exploration, experimentation, and collaboration. Daunasia was a toddler teacher at my child's nursery school. She was well loved by our families. She is thoughtful, fun, and respects children. Highly recommend for occasional babysitting as well as regular care.

We know Daunasia from our daughter's nursery school, where she was a full time teacher when our daughter attended. Daunasia is INCREDIBLY creative, kind and attentive to kids, with a really natural flair for engaging little ones. We were so grateful that our daughter got to spend the year with her!

Daunasia is a dream come true.  Our 4 year old loves to know Daunasia is on the way!  They are excited about the adventure they'll take and how funny Daunasia is.  I really appreciate the way Daunasia supports my child and has clear boundaries and expectations. My child has big big energy and I've watched Daunasia redirect like no other.  I apprentice that Daunasia is ALWAYS on time and she responds swiftly to any care requests.  She also lets me know how the days goes, and shares glows and grows for my child. Daunasia worked at the beloved Ashmont Nursery School for a couple of years. She was consistently pleasant, thoughtful, and present with the children.  Her social justice background makes her creative in creating age-appropriate activities that stimulate the child(ren)'s thinking. She laughs a lot, and easily. She is a great communicator, being firm about if/when she has to leave, which I appreciate since I ask if there is wiggle room (I ask before leaving, to plan accordingly)

Daunasia is amazing with kids. She is kind but also challenges children to be their best selves (which is not easy to do). She cares about my children in a way that is unmatched by most other childcare professionals. She has been both a teacher and sitter for my toddler, and she has taught me strategies for how to handle parenthood's sometimes trying times. We are very lucky to have Daunasia as a child-minder and also now as a friend.

Daunasia is really awesome. She loves my very strong willed daughter and my daughter loves her. We first met her when she was working in my daughters preschool and since she was our favorite caregiver we asked her to babysit for us too. She's always on time and very clear about the transaction side which is comfortable and helpful. She does a great job keeping S. safe of course and also encouraging her to imagine and have a good time as well as teaches her how to be a good human being.

My organization has hired Daunasia to provide childcare at several events. She is kind, engaging, and energetic. She is fabulous one on one with children, and provides quality care to group of kids too. Daunasia can facilitate activities and she can supervise children playing on their own. She values learning, reading, and creating with kids. She is trustworthy, professional, and a positive role model for kids of all ages. Caring for kids seems to bring her joy and that translate to a positive experience while kids are away from their parents. Parents appreciate Daunasia so much because they can focus on their other responsibilities knowing their children are receiving the best care. We recommend Daunasia without reservation!
