5-Star Review: Debbie – A Truly Exceptional Caregiver For 20 years, I dedicated myself to caring for my mom, a role that was both rewarding and demanding. When she suffered two strokes a week apart, requiring over a month in the hospital, our lives changed dramatically. Upon her return home, University Hospital assigned Debbie to assist with twice-weekly showers. From the moment she stepped into our lives, Debbie proved to be far more than a caregiver—she became a blessing to our family. Debbie’s professionalism and warmth were evident from the start. When she left University Hospital, we were thrilled to hire her privately, and as my mom’s condition worsened, Debbie seamlessly took on greater responsibilities. Her expertise shone through in every detail: she meticulously maintained a daily journal, tracking my mom’s bowel movements, meals, medications, and activities, providing me with thorough updates after every shift. When my mom developed swallowing issues and could no longer eat solid foods, I prepared pureed meals and thickened liquids, but Debbie insisted on feeding her. She expertly operated our sit-to-stand lift, similar to a Hoyer lift and when the time came for my mom to utilize a catheter and graduate etc, Debbie skillfully managed the handling, cleaning and measurements with confidence. On the rare occasions I took a vacation, Debbie organized a team to provide 24-hour care, ensuring my mom was never alone. Beyond her caregiving, she even tackled household chores like laundry and cleaning, going above and beyond. What truly sets Debbie apart is her heart. She treated my mom like her own, showing genuine love and compassion. I thank the Lord Jesus Christ for Debbie’s extraordinary care.
