About Desideria

I'm Desideria (Desi), a patient, strengths-based academic tutor with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies (UIUC) and currently pursuing my MSW at UIC. I help students from elementary through graduate school with writing, organization, study skills, and application prep. I specialize in essay support, personal statements, résumés, college/grad applications, interview prep, and academic confidence building. I also guide students in developing strong extracurricular profiles and navigating transitions, like switching majors or career paths. With lived experience in high-pressure academic environments, including pre-med and brief med school training, I understand both the academic and emotional challenges students face. Whether your child needs help staying organized, building writing skills, or finding clarity in their goals, I offer personalized, flexible support tailored to their needs.
