I recently worked for a gentleman in Shelton. He was 91 and had Dementia. My responsibilities were as follows, shopping , preparing meals , bathing , all yard and house duties. I was with him for a year and two months. Before that I took care of a married couple on Steamboat Island for about a year and a half. My desire to be a caregiver all started with my friends mother. I went with my friend to see her mother a few times when I noticed something wasn't right. So I told my friend something is just not right with your mom so we took her to doctor and found out she had Alzheimer's. I took care of her until she went and lived with her daughter in California. It was so rewarding to help her. So I changed career paths.
