About Elana

I'd describe my personality as thoughtful, attentive, and calm. I like working with kids because I like how children think and operate. I enjoy problem solving with children and finding ways to engage with the world from a place of playful curiosity. I'm looking for a job that offers me consistency. I enjoy building trusting relationships with children and their families. I started working with kids when I was 24 years old. I was a swim instructor and substitute teacher for Oakland Unified School District, before I pursued my teaching credential and become a full-time classroom teacher. In my spare time, I like to make comics and hike with my dog. I enjoy staying active and artsy. One thing you should know about me is I am incredibly thoughtful. I care deeply about the physical and emotional safety of those around me. I do not rush tasks and I take great pride in my personal attention to detail. My skills include tutoring, teaching, basic care like cooking and cleaning.
