My recent experience over the past 3 years was caring for an elderly woman 88-91 who slowly moved through stages of dementia. Early on, when she could no longer drive, I would take her to appointments (doctors, hairdresser). Anywhere she wanted to go! As things progressed, I began doing her laundry including her sheets. Cleaning to make sure her home was tidy and clean. Bathrooms and kitchen was a priority. I worked closely with family members to keep the appraised of her needs and any safety issues. I often cooked meals and enjoyed dinner with her. Family members were not nearby and I often shopped for home essentials, clothing, and groceries. She would call me when she needed something or just wanted someone to share something with. We both enjoyed each other's company and it brought a smile to her face when I would arrive.
