About Elizabeth

I'd describe my personality as warm, patient and empathetic. I like tutoring because I enjoy helping my students learn to read and become more proficient in reading. In addition, I pride myself on making math comprehensible. I'm looking forward to sharing my teaching abilities, working one on one with students. I'm excited to assist students needing help with reading, because over the past five years I have been honing my skills to teach reading using strategies consistent with the science of reading. I started tutoring as a classroom teacher in 2010. Then after retiring, I began tutoring through Care. Com. Since 2020 I've worked in reading intervention in the public schools. In my spare time, I like to read, kayak and hike in the mountains. I have 25 years of teaching experience and for me, teaching is a calling. My skills include teaching students to become proficient readers and writers. I'm also experienced in teaching math to grades kindergarten through sixth.
