About Ellen

I have been a caregiver with the VA for 8 years and a home caregiver for two veterans over the last 10 years. I am CPR certified, have experience in medication management, nutrition and special dietary requirements during meal preparation, experience with daily seizures and falls, movement exercises from wheelchairs, bed, chairs and/or for those who are mobile, and I can run errands/do shopping. I have also worked as a home hospice caregiver to my own father. From this experience, I learned a lot about how to care for someone's medical needs while making them as comfortable as possible especially by keeping them company, remembering that, as sick as they are, they are human beings with feelings just like everyone else. I did my best to keep things as "normal" as possible so that sickness and pain weren't the only thoughts on my dad's mind. That experience with always affect my future as a caregiver and remembering to have empathy for everyone, including their family and friends.
