I have cared for children for the majority of my adult life, working as a teacher, mentor, housekeeper and babysitter for families and children in Texas and New Mexico. I love working with children of all ages because I see that they will inherit the future of our society and our planet. I want them to be able to grow to take care of themselves and each other so that they can provide for other generations and take responsibility for themselves and their futures. I currently work as a Residential Instructor at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired where I work directly with youth. I serve as a healthy, safety-conscious role model in addition to teaching life management skills as well as creative and structured curricula for children with visual impairment as well as children who are blind and/or deaf blind. In New Mexico I taught at Alma d'Arte Charter High School, where I worked directly with teens who had behavioral and emotional disorders. My focus there was teaching art, specifically sculpture and art fundamentals. I also assisted in an advanced film making course, where I provided instruction in film making. I have many years of experience as a babysitter, caring for children of all ages. I have also worked periodically as a housekeeper throughout my career.
