About Gemma

I grew up the daughter of a childcare specialist/doula, so working with kids has been second nature to me since I was a kid myself. I have a degree in Developmental Psychology, and after college, spent 2 years in a research position at the University of Chicago where I work directly with kids everyday. In 2024, I lived and worked abroad as an English teacher in Argentina on a Fulbright grant (I speak Spanish and can happily teach young children Spanish/provide Spanish immersion if interested). My life values as well as extensive (10+ years) experience with children of many ages and from many diverse backgrounds have shaped my approach to childcare-centering play, leading with curiosity, reciprocal respect, cultural competency, and keeping children engaged with age appropriate activities, games, and structure. I am a confident, calming presence for children in my care, and take pride in my ability to adapt my style to the needs and values of each family.
