Experience: 10 yrs
I have worked with many wonderful families over the past 13 years, taking care of children as young as 1 month and up to school age. My main focus has been on the infant-preschool set. In particular, I have a heart for toddlers and enjoy the unique challenge of guiding and encouraging their ever-expanding world. I am a professional nanny and make it a priority to increase my skills and understanding through reading, classes, workshops and networking with other professionals in the community. I engage children in a creative, caring, playful, and thoughtful manner. My child care philosophy is a blending of many, but I would call it "child-centered". I think it is very important to be respectful of children and to always be loving, patient, and kind, but firm. I would like to tell you a little about myself as well so you can better determine if I might be a good fit within your family. I think there is more that factors in to a good match than just experience. I hope this is helpful. I am a non smoking, open-minded, vegetarian, born and raised in Seattle. My life-partner and I own a house in the south Seattle area, and we spend much of our free time working on home-improvement projects. I have a positive outlook on life and feel I have much to give as well as learn. Activities I enjoy include, spending time with friends and family, reading, art and cooking projects, hiking, and of course playing with my dog, Copper. I am an avid reader and make it a priority to read both alone and with the children in my care on a daily basis. In order to keep my commute manageable, I prefer to stay in Seattle, south of downtown, although I would consider opportunities in Renton, Burien and surrounding areas. I am available approximately 30 hours per week, ideally Monday - Thursday, daytime hours. My rate is $20-25/hour gross pay (on the books, taxes taken by employer). Nanny share rate starts at $24/hour gross pay ($12/hour per family). I appreciate benefits being included as part of the employment package such as sick, vacation and paid holidays. I have multiple references and letters of recommendation which are available upon request. Terms are always negotiable. I feel blessed every time a family gives me the honor of being a part of their children's lives. I hope this information is helpful. Thank you so much for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.
As first time parents, we were naturally anxious about entrusting the care of our 6 month old son to another person. However, Greta quickly demonstrated a high level of responsibility and loving care. At the end of every day, she provided a full written report regarding every aspect of our son's care. She does an excellent job providing age-appropriate activities that further encouraged our son's development, from water-play, to music and books, to sign language and making a bird-feeder to encourage wildlife to appear outside our window for our son to watch. She also made healthy, natural foods on occasion to supplement our own supply. Unfortunately, we had to move away after 4 months together, but we would certainly recommend her as an excellent nanny.
