About Heather

I have been teaching 6th and 7th grade Social Studies in the Public School System for 27 years. I have been at my same school for the past 23 years. During the pandemic, I spent one year doing virtual teaching for 125 7th graders. I am comfortable working remotely and in a one-on-one setting. I have experience working with kids on reading comprehension, writing skills, homework completion and organizational skills. I am very flexible with my schedule. My professional development includes the following achievements: 1) Social Studies curriculum writer for WCPSS 2) Taught several professional development courses for WCPSS 3) Discovery Education certified DEN Star teacher 4) Social Studies department chair for 14 years 5) School Leadership team for 14 years I can work with kids and pin-point their academic needs to create a plan that will give them additional support in school.
