About Ianthe

Ianthe is consistently joy-filled, warm, loving, energetic, mature, competent, intelligent, generous of spirit and grounded. She is richly-experienced working with, and advocating for children of all ages. She is the consummate skilled, caring teacher. Ianthe is exceptional. I have been privileged to employ Ianthe in several professional capacities over a 15-year period. She began as my assistant, helping to operate both my Pre-School and K-8 After-School Day Care Programs. Her adept organizational skills, coupled with her compassion, patience, thoughtfulness and commitment to excellence in ensuring the well-being of children in her care, quickly led me to trust her to lead her own classroom, where she creatively developed her own inspiring, effective curriculum. Her dependability, exuberance and success in these teaching and mentoring situations led me to further employ her to run the whole Pre-K-8 music program in a large summer camp setting over the next several years. “Miss Ianthe” was adored by all students, charges, parents and co-workers. She is an exuberant spirit with an ever-ready laugh, who puts 100% into everything she undertakes. She is genuine, positive and puts those around her at ease. Her communication skills are some of her greatest gifts. She has an innate ability to guide with a gently firm hand and just the right amount of humor. She is always respectful of children; never talking down to them. She also is wonderful at collaborating and communicating with parents and coworkers. Further special talents that Ianthe brings to her care-giving and teaching: she is an accomplished musician and singer, and multi-skilled professional performer and teacher of theater and dance . She uses these experiences, incorporating them seamlessly into her imaginative curricula and teaching moments; making everything she leads fun, happy and creative. Further traits I find relevant to making Ianthe an exceptional mentor or care-giver to children is her impressive breadth of interests, her quick flexibility in knowing how to redirect an activity or lesson midstream, her measured response to any situation, her intentionality and constant adherence to a higher standard, while still being ever-approachable and empathetic. Kids are just drawn to Ianthe because they detect her sincerity. She makes children feel secure and special. She does the same for adults. Ianthe is a delight.
