About Jackeline L

It is our great honor to recommend Jackeline S as a child-care provider. Don’t just take our word for it. Our 16 year-old daughter, when faced with even the idea of Jackeline moving on, had this to say, “I don’t think you guys understand. We are best friends. I’ve known Jackeline my whole life. She loves me as much as she loves her own kids!” To say that Jackeline helped us raise our two daughters is an understatement. From toddler tantrums, through piles of foul-smelling sports clothing and equipment, drop-offs and pickups all over LA, and the crises of teen years in an era of social media and COVID, we never saw a crack in Jackeline’s calm, loving, patient demeanor, nor in her nimbleness around our changing needs. Always cheerful and endlessly competent, Jackeline demonstrated a level of thought and care about every aspect of our household that went above and beyond every single day she showed up. It makes a huge difference as a working parent to come home to a house that is tidy, children who have been well cared for, and an atmosphere that is healthy and happy. But let us tell you something that, as parents of young children, you’ve probably already discovered: when your children and your home are involved, an ‘8’ or ‘9’ from a care provider isn’t good enough. You need a 10 who you can trust implicitly in any situation. You are putting EVERYTHING that really matters in their hands when you leave for the day. It’s not an easy thing to do. But for us, with Jackeline, it actually was! We do not speak Spanish, Jackeline’s primary language (hailing from El Salvador), and while her spoken English is in some ways limited, she always listened and understood our requests, instructions, and concerns. We learned that Jackeline’s native language was a feature, not a bug, when we met with a contractor on a Saturday in 2012 who had just spent the week working on our house. “By the way,” he said, at the end of the meeting, “your kids’ English is amazing!” We were confused. What did he mean? “Well,” he said, “I’m from Mexico. I’ve been here all week, hearing the kids speaking Spanish with the nanny. Their Spanish is way better than my own kids’ so I assumed it was their first language, and I’m blown away to hear them speaking English today!” We like that she taught them Spanish, but we LOVE that she taught them kindness. We owe Jackeline everything, and we hope that her next chapter is with a wonderful family!
