I am an energetic 76 y/o mother of 2 and grandmother of 4. I retired as a Therapy Aide at Pilgrim Psychiatric Center. Since then, I've been blessed with working privately with families assisting them with the daily care and companionship needed for their parent(s) or loved one(s). I am a very personable and caring person and pride myself with providing a calming and reassuring presence in their home. I am sympathetic and understanding of their needs, while encouraging them to be independent. I genuinely enjoy interacting and talking with them. I engage them in interests of their own as well as card and board games, puzzles, bingo and exercising. I offer assistance with meal planning, light housekeeping, administering medications, and ADL skills as needed. I am flexible with hours and days and I'm always willing to work with family to assist with the needs of their loved one.

Jeannie was a wonderful support and friend to our mom. She was a great communicator and very reliable. We always knew that mom was in good hands on the days she was with Jeannie! You would be very fortunate to have Jeannie caring for your loved ones!

I hired Jeannie as an aide for my husband, who has severe expressive aphasia and is otherwise handicapped as a result of a stroke. Although my husband is somewhat aloof, Jeannie was able to build a relationship with him, and he accepted and liked being with her.  She is honest, flexible, as well as completely reliable and trustworthy. She prepared meals for my husband, took him to medical appointments, and stayed with him when I had to be away from the house.  Unfortunately, there are some issues with insurance coverage, and so regretfully, I have to to look elsewhere for his regular care.  Nevertheless, I know I certainly would call on Jeannie again were I to need her.

Prior to interviewing Jeannie in person, I had the opportunity to speak with her extensively over the telephone.  She genuinely cared about the concerns I had for my mother and she took the time to listen to my situation and offer really sound advice on ways to support my mothers needs.  I instantly felt a connection with her and I knew she would be a good fit for what I was looking for in a care companion for my mom.  Our first introductory meeting went great.  She is knowledgeable, kind and compassionate.  My mother really enjoyed her company and she was hired on the spot!  Jeannie shares many of the same interests as my mother.  Their conversation flowed effortlessly, like they'd know each other for years which immediately put me at ease.  She is punctual, communicative and very accommodating.    Without hesitation, I highly recommend Jeannie to anyone looking for a care companion for someone they love.

After two weeks with what I and our family thought was a good fit, Jeannie requested changing the time for the job and wasn't making herself available for the full 9 to 5 that she agreed to. 
Where some advanced communication notice was needed, having texted her a day or two in advance- She became VERY defensive (bordering on hostile) with regard to her private time. I and our family are all for healthy boundaries & observe the importance of 'down time' - but there are times when you have to be in touch with the caregiver in advance so that they & we/family can better prepare the day or week, ESPECIALLY when a caregiver is new to your home!
Communication responses from her quickly became great resistance on her part, a concern to our family, a hugely unnecessary power struggle, and a show of blatant disrespect for mom & our family in what was needed in care for mom.
Will say wonderful things you want to hear in the interview but more about what she won't do than what's agreed to.

Jeannie was a wonderful companion for my wife who is suffering from Alzheimer's disease. She has a very warm and positive personality and quickly became part of the family. She is dependable and punctual. I would strongly recommend her.

I am a Psychiatric Nurse, and worked closely with Jeannie for approximately 7 years. Jeannie is reliable, compassionate, and a very dependable worker. She maintains a therapeutic relationship with all of her clients, and tends to every one of their needs. Jeannie is the most caring and compassionate senior companion you will find. Her visits quickly become the highlight of her senior's week. Her presence in their life is palpable by their overall increased happiness and outlook. Jeannie is also at times an advocate for her seniors as they openly express to her what can be done to improve their quality of life. She also works closely with the family to ensure the senior's needs are met and they are thriving in their environment.

I have known Jeannie for more than 40 years. She is energetic, caring, and compassionate. She has worked as a companion for about 10 years. She is very observant to a persons needs and would report her observations to family. You could not find a more qualified and caring person than Jeannie.
