For the past six months, I've have had the privilege of being a care taker, three days a week for an 85-year-old woman, with progressing dementia. I have learned how to take care of her in such a way that honors her, and helps her as she struggles with dementia. I give her medication, make her lunch, help her go to the bathroom, give her foot massages, read to her, help her get dressed, and am a companion to her. I also help a woman in her 50s once a week with lymes disease. I run errands for her, cook for her, do her laundry, help her In the shower, and help her to get down and up the stairs.
