I've been working at a summer camp for 2 years along with some additional after school care. I primarily work with 8-9-year-olds but I have worked with ages 3-14. The campers at work think I'm fun to be around since I'm always cheerful but they also know I can be stern when I need to be. I think respect from both sides is very important in creating a healthy connection with children. I have worked with kids of so many walks of life including kids with special needs, kids with problems of anger or sadness, kids going through family issues etc. My skills include being able to connect with kids who are struggling or may need extra support, clearly communicating why being safe and kind are important, and I'm happy to play games/ run activities with kids.
