About Karen

Karen has decades of teaching and school leadership under her belt. She recently moved to IL from CA where she was Dean of Students and working as the school's guidance and discipline administrator and developed social emotional learning standards and performance assessments for students in PK - grade 8. As a Head of School in both IL and CA, she developed educational policy and programs that advanced her schools. She holds a BA in Child Development, a MA in Special Education: Gifted, and an administrative credential. She is a published author and presenter on topics in gifted education and in Social Emotional Learning. Karen is committed to supporting children with the belief that each is naturally imbued with the qualities of goodness and intelligence, and a primary purpose of school must be to help students reach beyond limitations and obstacles to widen their and expand their lives. She loves hiking and enjoying nature, reading, cooking, and time with family.
