About Khaliyah

From March to May of 2024, I had the privilege of providing in-home care for my grandmother, who lives with diabetes and recently triumphed over cancer. It was a truly rewarding experience to be there for her during this time, and I continue to offer support whenever she needs it. My days with her involved a variety of tasks, all focused on her well-being. I helped with her daily medication and insulin administration, personal hygiene, and dressing. I also managed light housekeeping and prepared meals tailored to her diabetic meal plan. A key part of my role was closely monitoring her blood sugar levels, aiming to keep them within her target range. To ensure her needs were fully met, I worked hand-in-hand with my aunt, who is her primary caregiver, checking her blood sugar three times a day. Through this experience, I really honed my abilities in patient communication, time management, and teamwork. Most importantly, it deepened my commitment to compassionate care.
