With the way the business world is going these days, and all that they are expected to learn, kids need and deserve the best help they can get. I was a volunteer in the HOSTS program at Highland Jr. High 2008-2009 school year where I helped the kids with their reading. I also can tutor in math and spelling. When I was a child, I didn't like to read. In fact, my mom couldn't pay me to read and she tried! But once I found topics that were interesting, I found that I loved to read. Also, as I try to help my son with his homework, I struggle to understand it myself (Geometry), but I find if I work at it and practice several problems, I can start to understand it and that is the key... practice makes perfect. I believe that if kids practice at subjects that aren't there strengths, they will get better.
