About Kirsten

I am a private educator with experience homeschooling gifted children and tutoring students with learning disabilities, including dyslexia, ADHD, and anxiety. I offer a full range of homeschooling lessons. As a tutor, I seek to develop an open and trusting relationship with my students to create a friendly environment where learning can take place. I believe every student can grow and improve. My teaching method involves finding my students' learning styles, as well as their strengths and weaknesses. For phonics and reading instruction, I utilize both Lindamood-Bell and Orton Gillingham techniques. I help my math students build and strengthen foundational skills while developing problem solving abilities. For writing, I make sure my students practice pre-writing activities to help develop organizational skills. My current lessons are geared toward elementary and middle school students; however, I can develop lessons for high schoolers as well.
