About LaViza

Hi! I'm a patient and encouraging tutor with 4 years of experience supporting elementary students in English, math, and reading. I love helping children build confidence in their abilities and develop strong foundational skills that will serve them for years to come. My approach is calm and supportive--I meet students where they are and help them grow at a pace that works for them. I believe learning should feel safe and even fun, and I always aim to create a space where kids feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I enjoy getting to know each student's unique strengths and learning style so I can tailor lessons to fit their needs. Watching a child go from unsure to confident is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. I'm here to support not just academic progress, but also a child's overall love of learning. I have a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology, and I bring the skills I have learned to help foster a growth mindset in learning.
