About Leigh

Working with seniors has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life, both personally and professionally. As a student nurse in the hospital setting and a caregiver in my part-time job, I've had the privilege of forming deep connections with older adults. These experiences have not only helped me develop critical nursing skills but have also shaped my values, deepened my empathy, and confirmed my passion for geriatric care. During my clinical rotations as a nursing student, I was placed on various units where I cared primarily for older patients. From medical-surgical floors to long-term care settings, the majority of the patients I encountered were elderly individuals facing a range of challenges: chronic illnesses like diabetes and hypertension, post-operative recovery, cognitive impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer's, and often a combination of physical and emotional complexities.
