I spent a summer caring for the elderly mother of a friend of the family when she broke her wrist. My responsibilities included frequent visits, light food preparation, assistance with daily routine, (as in getting out of bed, brushing teeth, using the bathroom, etc.) and just keeping her company by playing games with her and taking her to places she wanted to go. When I was younger, I had two great aunts who lived in a nursing home and my mother would take me to visit them almost every weekend. This is where I get my passion for senior care, because it was very simple gestures that put a smile on the faces of the people who lived in the nursing home and they were always happy to see visitors.
