For 6 years, I have worked at the Maplehill School and Farm in Vermont. This is a therapeutic special education school that serves students ages 9-21 with severe learning disabilities, cognitive differences, behavioral disorders, and trauma. This is a one on one program where students learn in a highly individualized way. I am given curriculum from the teachers to work on with the students. I have experience following curriculum and finding many different ways to support a students learning journey. I believe that teaching is about listening and no one learns the same way. It is the instructors responsibility to uncover the path that works for that learner. Young learners are wildly inspiring!
