My kids are 17, 9, 3, and 2. I found Daphne 6 years ago. She watched my now 9 and 17 year old during Covid. She helped with their online schooling but also introduced them to new and delicious meals that I would not think they’d eat (but they love her cooking)! She took them on walks, played games, helped my youngest learn to write his name and a thousand other things I don’t have room to write! Once they were both in school we were just using her for date nights. When my 3 year old was born I was overwhelmed. We asked her to come babysit for a date night since my oldest was at her dad’s. Daphne jumped right in that night. I came home to my over piled laundry now manageable, she had swept, mopped, and done dishes once the kids were asleep. I asked why and she said you just had a baby so I figured you could use extra help! I cried because how could this young adult know I needed help? I never asked her to clean once they were asleep she just did! When I had my now 2 year old a year later we had Daphne come help full time for a few months while we adjusted. She’s great at entertaining kids! She makes them feel seen and heard which is so important to us. Daphne moved for a year, but is back now. The year she was gone we tried a few other sitters but none of them compared. Since she’s been back in Albuquerque we’ve used her pretty often to get a date night or when kids haven’t felt well and we couldn’t take them to preschool. I really decided I had to write the review when our two year old asked last night for Daphne to come to read her a book at bedtime. I have heard so many times from the kids can you go to dinner so we can play with Daphne? Recently I had to tell my 9 year old we can’t just call Daphne to see if she wants him to go hang out with her. In his eyes she’s just a friend who plays with them and always wants to hang out with them. I’m nervous to give our hidden gem to the city with this review but really I hope more kids get to experience having her come babysit or nanny them!
