I have been a nanny for over 25 years as well a newborn care specialist for over 17 years and as well now a certified postpartum doula Carrot approved. I have worked with children as young as hours old and up to 16 years old. I have been taking care of children since I was 11years old. I I enjoy every moment with the children.. Every day is different, but all worth it. I am CPR and First Aid certified. I have the proper insurance on my car in case I need to drive the children. I have experience as a night nanny. I also for a few months helped a family out on weekends with a disabled 4-year-old little girl who did not walk or talk and was fed a majority of the time with a g-tube.

Nela might just be the best thing that ever happened to our family!! She has been with us from day one, helping me and our sweet baby girl I'm every aspect of child rearing.  It is pretty bittersweet writing this review as I am saying goodbye to Nela, because she was able to get my little one to sleep through the night at only 11 weeks of age. Not only was she terrific with sleep training, but she always reached out to me to help out with daily baby matters such as diaper sizes, nap times, daily feeding amounts...just anything and everything a new Mom really needs to know. I highly recommend Nela and would personally hold on to her for the longevity of my baby's life if I could! Any family would be so lucky to have her!!!!

When I started looking for a night nurse on CARE, I actually got back a ton of great seemingly qualified candidates to help me out and Marianela or "Nela" was the first person I happened to meet with.  I was looking to hire her for the arrival of baby #2, and had experience in hiring a nanny and a night nurse for my first baby already. As soon as I met her, I knew I wanted to hire her. Nela immediately has a caring, smart, likable energy about her, as well as a long resume of incredibly high maintenance moms who do nothing but sing her praises in the highest order. Fast forward to her helping me both with nights and weekends for what ended up being three months because I absolutely would NOT let her go. Nela was not only a wonderful, thorough caregiver to my now thriving and incredibly happy three month old son, but also but also my very active two year old daughter. I cannot say enough good things other than any family would be lucky to have her!

Nela is truly a rare find! She is passionate, trustworthy, communicative and reliable. She is genuine in her services.  

Nela worked for us for 5 weeks as a night nurse for our newborn son in February/March 2018.  If we could, we would have loved to have hired her for several more weeks, but had a limited budget 

Nela clearly has experience with, compassion for and a deep understanding of newborns and babies.  She listened and followed the guidelines for our son's care, and offered advice when it was solicited; advice that was much appreciated.  Nela's responsibilities included prepping for a feed (the baby was on breast milk), changing him, waking up mom, and burping and comforting our son back to sleep. She was extremely professional and reliable - and always made sure we were in a good place and ready to take over when she left.


Nela loves babies and was always gentle and loving with our son, particularly at trying times when it took an hour or more to settle down.  Our trust in her enabled us to get much needed rest - rest that was particularly needed after having undergone a c-section.

Nela is awesome! She's very hands on, very knowledgeable about babies. She set up a routine for us and helped us with our first born. She worked overnight until we had our routine set up. Highly recommend 

DEFINITELY HIRE! My twin babies were 5 months old when we hired Marianela. My goal was to get my babies off night support as they were big enough they just got stuck in a brief habit of being patted at night.... Nela was such a good sport she offered to try an approach we learned of before we all realized how unsustainable it would be in the long run.  My key learning in working with her is that all babies are different and as much as she was there to support us in the night, she also didn't want us to waste any more money when the babies would do fine sleeping through the night. To my surprise sleeping through the night at 5 months is actually good for them! (DUH!) After working with Nela on a couple different approaches the babies were sleeping through the night after 1 week. Nela is great at giving suggestions that only an experienced nanny would know, plus she continues to check in and it's been a few weeks since last worked together! Great follow-up skills!

We feel so lucky that we have found Nela through Care.com. 2 weeks ago I needed a night nanny for our 6 week old identical twin boys. Nela and I spoke on the phone before she came in for an interview, and I could immediately tell that she had a wealth of knowledge and a passion for what she does. I told her that my boys have been extra fussy lately and witching hour was getting longer and more frequent. We were scheduled to meet the following day at 5:00, but she asked to change to 8:00 so that she could see them during their fussy times. Immediately she had recommendations to help soothe them. We hired her on the spot. Over the next 2 weeks, she transformed the way we cared for the boys and even spotted that what we thought was gas, was actually reflux. Our boys have silent reflux and are now on Zantac and it is as if I have brand new babies!! 

She has such a calming presence and has become a great friend. We feel so blessed to now have her as part of our family and highly recommend anyone that is looking for help, to use Nela. She is in a league of her own. Outside of the personal care she has given my family, she is also very dependable, shows up on time, and is flexible with her schedule to try and accommodate the families she is working with.

At the first moment that I met Nela, it was clear she has a lot of experience working with babies.  This was my third child and she was still able to aid me in every aspect of parenting with her vast knowledge of newborns, toddlers, and children.
What I liked the most is that she swooped right in and was able to take care of my son with such ease and confidence.  This helped me to relax and get much needed rest.  We used her 3 nights a week which helped me to have enough energy during the day to take care of all three children on my own.  
Nela makes you feel completely comfortable in your own home, you can use a baby monitor (which I did not use after the first night) and you can enter the room at any time to check on her and the baby or just to ask a question.  It was as though she wasn't even there.  I was completely comfortable with her in my home.
While Nela worked with our family, I was never tired and friends would often comment that I seemed well rested for a mother of a newborn!  This of course was because Nela was so trustworthy and so great with my newborn.  She also helped me to stretch my baby's feeding at night, so by the time she was done working with my family, the baby was sleeping 6-8 hour stretches and only waking up for a few oz., and only one time per night.
In order for me to be the best parent I can be, I need to sleep.  if you are looking for a night nurse to help you through those first few exhausting months, I highly recommend Nela.

In November 2015, I had twin girls and was extremely in love, but also overwhelmed by the demands of two children a once. We met Nela through Care.com and she came on to help us from two weeks to seven weeks post birth, nightly and then part-time for a month following. Her helping hands in those precious and hectic few months were the most valuable. She allowed us to actually enjoy the newborn phase   not something I think many new parents have an opportunity to do in those first few weeks and months. 
First of all, Nela is an extremely experienced infant care specialist. We felt completely comfortable (in fact grateful to someone who had more experience with newborns, and twins in particular, than we) handing care over of our two little girls to her. She brought her experience into our lives and gave us helpful advice to ensure the comfort of our babies.
I hadn't realized this at the time of hire, but flexibility on dates and times will be extremely important to new parents, as they are trying to cobble together a routine in those first few weeks. Nela's flexibility on this front was invaluable. No other night nurse was willing to offer us this flexibility in schedule and we were so grateful to have been given that leeway as we were trying to figure out what our precise needs were. 
Furthermore, Nela worked with us to develop a schedule and routine for our girls, in terms of feeding and sleeping. She helped us start a bit of sleep training by 6 weeks. 
Nela's experience and flexibility made us just that much more relaxed and I feel as a new parent that relaxation and sleep are absolute treasures. Nela creates that level of peace in the homes she works within. 
Most importantly, Nela loved and nurtured our little girls as if they were her own. I went to bed feeling like a second mommy was watching over them every night and I was so grateful for the care and love of these precious little babies (she was even loving and wonderful with our two enormous and at times obnoxious dogs!). It saved us in a time of complete chaos. Her care enabled us to rest and enjoy our new little family.  
I really feel Nela has a gift with babies and any family would be so lucky to have her help in caring for their little ones. I am happy to speak further to parents considering Nela for hire- I can't say enough about her time with us!


Nela is awesome!!  We were looking for someone to do a couple of weekend nights with our five week old daughter so we could get some much needed rest.  From our initial conversation Nela was amazing, great communicator, very responsive and answered all my questions promptly and thoroughly.  She also comes with amazing references from all the families she has worked with.  She showed up on time and took wonderful care of our baby giving me a full report of how things went while we were asleep.  I will continue to hire Nela when she is available as I completely trusted her with our baby and she did a phenomenal job.

She is wonderful. She helped me with my son when he was an infant during the nights.  She had reflux so the nights were especially difficult.  The also had many tips to help him sleep better.  We are grateful for her and her care.

Nela worked for us for over two years. She is the absolute ideal nanny - a quintessential Mary Poppins!!! She is especially gifted with babies. Her passion is definitely taking care of babies/children. I looked forward to her arrival - not only for the relief, but because she became a dear friend. She has the natural protective instinct that you want a nanny to have when entrusted with your baby.

Nela has worked with my family for over two years now. She watches my twins - who are as active as active can be. She literally can do anything. She is FABULOUS! If I had a bank account that would accommodate her services or if I was able to have more children - I would love to have Nela in our house all the time! She has a lovely personality and is a truly beautiful person both inside and out.

We would highly recommend using Nela as a night nanny. Nela has a natural way with children. We had twin girls and began using Nela twice a week for the first three months after our twins were born.  She was very comfortable with them and we were very comfortable with her. After each shift she gave us a complete report regarding the babies eating habits and any issues of importance that she had addressed. She went above and beyond and always made sure the girls were ready in the morning before she left.  She also cleaned all the bottles and picked up the clothes and diapers. She was very flexible and added extra hours when one of us was traveling for work. She exceeded our expectations. She also had suggestions on methodologies and products to help the babies get on a good sleep schedule.  She took direction well and was friendly and professional.
