I'm accomplished in: ambulatory/non-ambulatory range of movement; regular feedings; gastrointestinal feedings (g-tubes), bolus and 24 hour drip; cleaning of g-tubes; direct patient care; showering/baths; health to the skin; personal patient needs i.e., teeth, hair, nails; giving prescribed medication at dosage times; preparing hot meals; keeping patients' rooms clean, as well as any household help that may be needed by the family; light kitchen help; laundry; shopping for groceries; and taking patient on outings and to doctor appointments. My years as a certified nursing assistant have enriched my life in so many ways. I have learned just how much I'm depended on, so with that comes a sound, strong sense of punctuality, dependability, responsibility, and care, as well as LOVE! I don't look at the elderly as old people, but rather, people with history to tell--both for the lives that they have lead, and the life they are leading now. They are all accomplished and wise in their own ways. So for them, I have gained much insight and respect.
