About Mary

Hi! My name is Mary, and I'm a creative and experienced tutor with a degree in English Literature from Wheaton College. While in school, I worked as a professional tutor at a learning center, supporting students in standardized test prep, English writing, ESL, and even secondary-level math and science. After graduating, I joined a private teaching team for a family, where I taught Latin to their five children and provided full-subject instruction to their first and fifth graders. We worked within the framework of a classical education model, and I taught reading using phonics. I have experience working with students of various ages and learning needs, including children with learning and developmental disabilities such as dyslexia. I'm also a strong editor and writing coach, and I love helping students grow in their confidence and communication skills. I aim to make learning engaging, supportive, and tailored to each child's unique strengths.
