Mary is the best!! Mary is my best friend, but also a powerhouse of knowledge in the senior care world. I recently moved my mom to the area and she has dementia. Mary helped me navigate the Memory Care units, even going on a tour with me. when my mom met her, she instantly liked her! I will be using Mary to help check up on my mom on the days that I'm not able to visit. You will absolutely love Mary!

Mary was absolutely fantastic. I flew in to Raleigh from Alabama to have an outpatient procedure and she was with me the entire time from picking me up at my hotel, waiting in the waiting area with me and even come back and talking with my while I was in recovery. She also took me to the grocery store to grab a few things before going back to my hotel. I would recommend Mary highly. She is just fantastic!

Mary is currently helping my parents because of my mother's dementia. I cannot say enough good things about Mary. She is thoughtful, kind, very caring, very helpful. She thinks of new ways to help and follows through. She brings puzzles, helps keep my mother entertained, cooks dinner, helps with the house and groceries. I cannot imagine how lost we would be without her.

Mary took care of my mother for 2 years consistently, 5 days a week, 5-6 hours per day. My mother had severe dementia and with Mary's support we were able to keep my mother at home in a comfortable and safe environment during her last two years. Mary has an amazing level of patience and is so kind and genuinely caring about those she takes care of as well as the family. She helped to feed my mother and take her for walks as well as serve as a companion to my mom. Mary was reliable and trustworthy during her time taking care of my mom. Words really cannot describe just how appreciative I am to have found Mary in our time of need!   

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about a wonderful caregiver that we are very grateful to for caring for our mother during the final months of Stage 4  Cancer.  At the time we hired Mary from care.com our mother, Barb had been diagnosed with Stage 4  Cancer for several months and had gone through chemotherapy and radiation.  She had fought us on getting any outside help but we knew that in order to be able to keep her at home we were going to have to bring someone in. When Mary first started with Barb it was mostly for companionship, help with meals, light housekeeping and some personal care.  It was evident from the start how passionate Mary was in being a caregiver.  Her warm and friendly personality just made Barb s day. For someone who refused help she began to look forward to Mary coming.  Mary was always very attentive to all of Barb s needs whether that meant sitting on the bed watching TV together, playing cards, looking through old photos, helping her contact old friends . 
Barb s condition started to deteriorate fairly quickly and she went from just needing companionship and some personal care to being wheelchair bound and needing help with all aspects of care. Mary did not hesitate to step up. She always went above and beyond her duties to make Barb comfortable and feel good about her herself.  If it was something she had not done before she learned it.  With the help of Hospice and another caregiver, who was a CNA and worked with Barb also, Mary was able to do anything a CNA could do. 
As Barb s disease continued to progress it became more important to stay on top of her medications and changes that were happening. Mary s attention to detail made all the difference. She was always in constant communication with us sending us text and emails after each visit with Barb so we could stay in the loop. She also kept a daily journal. Since we were not always able to stop by each day it really made us feel at ease getting such detailed reports whether they were good or bad. There were times that Barb would ask Mary not to tell us about things such as fall or something and Mary would tell her absolutely not so we always felt let we were getting a good picture of how things were. 

In addition to caring for personal and medical needs Mary was very much involved in Barb s emotional needs and was invaluable in helping Barb eventually come to accept her situation.  Barb was not active in her parish but Mary contacted the priest from her personal parish and made arrangements, with Barb and our permission, to have him visit Barb.  She arranged to have weekly communion brought to Barb and presented her with a prayer blanket from their parish.  Even though Barb might not have admitted it I think these actions had a huge impact on her.
Mary was also very flexible when working with our schedule. Even though Mary was Barb s primary caregiver we were fortunate to have two other wonderful caregivers that helped out.  Mary was always happy to change shifts, fill in, work extra hours if needed and if family was in town for a day or two was okay if we felt we didn t need her.  When Barb was taking a turn for the worse during the last couple days there was one point when all 3 of Barb s caregivers were by her bedside with her. I think that says a lot about the commitment and love all our caregivers had for Barb.
I feel like Mary is all the things one would want in a caregiver: competent, compassionate, kind, friendly, fun, flexible and totally committed to her client s well being.  Our family would like to take this opportunity to thank Mary for the support, care and true love she gave to Barb and us during this difficult time.
