About Maya

Hello, my name is Maya! I am currently enrolled at Baylor College of Medicine as a Post-Baccalaureate in Biomedical Sciences student. I have two Bachelors of Science degrees in Biology and Psychology from University of Houston (Main Campus). I first started tutoring my sophomore year (August 2021) under the university's Scholar Enrichment Program, helping other undergraduate students in their Biology and Calculus courses. The following summer, I was selected to be a Mentor for the Summer Scholars Academy, a program awarding 50 incoming freshmen with a $1, 000 scholarship and the opportunity to earn college credit for Calculus 1. Months later, in November 2022, I became a tutor at a local K-12 Tutoring Center. My 16 months of working here has gifted me the experience and adaptability of teaching a wide range of different children (ranging from 4-17 years old), each in their preferred style of learning. I am dedicated, patient, results oriented, & driven.
